Big News...

Ok guys, I know I've been pulling yinz around talking about how there would be another big announcement concerning your boy Snack writing for another large Pittsburgh blog...

Well here it is -

Big Snack (under his real name, Rocco) is now a contributing editor on The New Bucco Blog...I will be penning some articles in the News section about our Pirates, and will also be in charge of moderating comments for my articles and working the message boards...Make sure you check it out, Jake and Alex (the head honchos) have been working really hard on the site, and I definitely think it's an upgrade from the old one.

Also, don't forget to check out Diego and Snack's weekly post (Mondays) on Mondesi's House too...We're getting huge people, and we wanna thank you all for being with us from the get-go...

Look for us to be contributing to more sites, and keep your eyes peeled for bigger and better things from PNA in 2008!

Until tommorrow, when I'll post some links and such to keep your little minds at ease...

Snack's Midday Munchies...

Well it looks like today will be busier than expected for PNA, as I am coming to you live from Three Rivers Ortheopedics in Aspinwall...So I figured while I wait for my great aunt to be X-rayed, I'd bring some links to yinz that you may enjoy...and don't forget to comment on our Gary Roberts post, as he will hunt you down and murder you if you don't...

Britney Spears' sister is preggo...Nice, just when you thought this family couldn't get any trashier, she goes ahead and does this...Oh yea, did I mention she's 16 and the father is 19...that's a crime in some states...And she has her own show on Nick too...I know I shouldn't laugh at others' misfortune but come on, this is priceless....

In local news, Jake at BuccoBlog has sold his site to some jagoffs from NY...He's now going to be working as a consultant...Congrats buddy, you deserve it, and you definitely know your stuff, but if your site becomes a pile of dog crap I'm going to hunt you down like the dog you are...

And finally, Bobby Bowden is sitting 25 players for their bowl game because they cheated on tests so they could pass and play...So let me get this straight...these jagoffs don't have to pass their tests on their own and they're STILL not a good football team...not an elite one anymore at least...It's time to hang them up Bobby, your old ass just can't cut it with today's dumb ass athletes...

Until lata...

Afternoon Ramblings...

Jesus H, Jake from BuccoBlog is giving me a heart attack...He just mentioned we could get Phil Hughes from the Yanks for Ian Snell, but now it looks like it may not go through...Although, you never know, Jake is always hating on the management, so maybe this is just his normal gloomy view of the Bucs...But, it's much more likely, at least to me, that Jake is prolly just as flustered as I am at this Huntington not having the "intestinal fortitude" to make a big deal...It's time to crap or get off the pot Neil...

Here's a few random links I found while just doing my normal nothing today...

This one is compliments of Old Man Snack, as he found a sweet video of some base jumpers...he also wanted me to mention that him and Mama I (my sweetheart of a mother) used to share beers and laughs with the old 'Stache himself...good shit as far as I'm concerned...Now, if only Wanny would hire the old man as the o-coordinator, then we'd be goin somewhere...

Jimmy Leyland is the big winner in the trade market, landing D-Train and Miggy Cabrera...how the hell did they pull this off? They're pitching staff is now sick as hell, and the're starting 8 is the best in baseball...too bad the poor, poor Pirates are so broke...(Thanks to Mondesi's House for the story)

And finally, it looks like we may have some of our studs back for the showdown with the Pats on Sunday...Troy, Marvel and Santonio are all busting their humps to get back for this one...I hope they don't rush these guys though, we're gonna need them all down the stretch...

Till lata...

Morning Munchies...

Here's some links to keep yinz busy until tomorrow, when I plan on putting up a mega links page...but we'll see, we all know how Snack likes to get drunk and then sleep for 15 hours, and today is Thursday...

First off, in Bucco news, MLB Trade Rumors is really up and running good now that it's free agent and trade time...They suggest that Nady and McLouth could be traded for a 3B prospect who is in AA...The kid, Chase Headley, is the third-best third base prospect in the game, with our own Neil Walker coming in fifth...I am personally all for this move...Walker is a big boy, who could easily be moved to 1st base or the outfield, as I would imagine Headley is too...We have pitching coming out of our ears, what we need now is some sluggers to actually SCORE SOME RUNS!!!

Bucco Blog also has some trade rumors posted, as well as a review of a 30 minute Q&A with Neil Huntington...Neil seems like a bit of a jackass to ole Snack here, but I guess I'll give him some time before I start my "Fire Huntington" petition...

In "no shit, Sherlock" news, LSU has given Michigan permission to talk to coach Les Miles about the open coaching job in Ann Arbor, which, by the by, is the only coaching job he can leave LSU for...For some reason, I've always been a Big Blue fan, but this would be an absolutely horrible move...All this Miles guy does is whine and complain and say stupid stuff like "No one's beat us in regulation this year, so we should be conidered for the national title"...NO YOU SHOULDN'T, JERKY!!!...You lost two games, and last time I checked, thats 1 or 2 more losses then a lot of other teams...

And lastly, a little update on FieldGate 08'...it appears the Steelers players actually want to keep the grass field, saying it provides a home field advantage...Holy hell, Diego was actually right about something...I personally like the grass as well, but if the whole league is going to ride our nuts and say that our field is a hazard and we're a disgrace and wah wah wah, it's not worth it to me to stick with it...Plus, think of those poor souls working on the ground crew down there...They busted their asses for 36 hours straight to put that sod down and all they got for it was the entire football nation giving them shit...We'll see where they go with this one, but I think that badass new FieldTurf may be the way to go...

Oh yea, I wanted to post a little tidbit sent in to use from loyal reader SeanKidd...take a look at this video, and for those of you who don't know Snack, imagine a little more hair, a little more clothes, and all black and gold and you'll have a great mental image of me...HAHAHA

Until lata...

World Series Finale...

So who didn't see this one coming? The Red Sox downed the Rockies 4-3 to complete the sweep in what has to go down as one of the most lopsided World Series' in recent memory.

If you forget all about that amazing hot streak that saw the Rockies win 21 of 22 it was quite easy to see coming. The Sox, a team full of proven veteran talent such as David Ortiz, Curt Schilling, World Series MVP Mike Lowell and the ever popular Manny Ramirez have been envisioning this game since April; the Rockies were at or near the bottom of their division for much of the year. If you'd like to read about how badly the Sox beat the Rockies on paper, check out Bob Smizik's article, he talks about the difference in pitching staffs. Once you read it yinz will know what I mean.

Watching all this baseball makes me think about one thing; those cheap, cheap owners of our beloved Buccos...I have been a Red Sox fan for years now (no idea why...must be my Irish side), but, as much as I enjoy them winning, I'd much rather it be our boys. Pittsburgh loves us a winner, and the city would really get behind a winning baseball team.

What bothers me is that it really wouldn't take that much more money to make us at least competitive. By Snack's estimates, if we made our payroll roughly 70 million dollars, we would be able to add the at least middle-of-the-road veterans we could really use. As is, all our payroll allows for is a small, one-year piece here and there that we always end up using as trade bait because of our awful record (or they go the way of Joe Randa and lose their starting job, costing us $4 million to find out Freddy Sanchez was for real).

At least we have the Steelers and Pens to keep us occupied for the next 3 or 4 months...we'll keep you informed on the mangerial search for the Buccos, but if you're looking for a daily update on all things Pirates, check out Bucco Blog.

PS: Keep an eye out, Diego is going to post his first "Monday Morning Hangover" segment, prolly sometime this evening. (Unline your boy Snack, he has a 9-5 type job...)
