I really hate the Pats...(Part Duex)

Well the jagoff Pats beat the Bolts 21-12 this afternoon in the AFC Championship, sending them to the Super Bowl...again...

God do I hate these guys...

I figured that LT was a man and wanted to play football in the biggest game of his life, but apparently I assumed wrong. Unless his knee was falling apart at the seams, there is absolutely no excuse not to play. His replacements did admirably but let's face it, none of them are LT.

The sideline kept reporting that the coaching staff was keeping him out - if that's the case, someone needs to take Norv Turner out back and get rid of him...Old Yeller style...

Anyway, Brady played like crap and still managed to win, mostly because the Chargers couldn't find the endzone with a flashlight and a map...4 field goals against the Pats just ain't gonna do it.

In the NFC, the Giants stunned the Packers at Lambuea Field, 23-20 in OT. The Giants' kicker, Larry Tynes did everything in his power to blow the game for the G-Men, but in the end, it was his leg that carried them to the Super Bowl. He nailed the game winning 47 yard field goal in OT, just minutes after missing two much closer chances pretty badly.

It's a shame Favre had to end the season throwing a pick like he did (his pick lead to Tynes FG), but something tells me the old man will be back for one more go round next season...

We also had a reader (actually a family of readers) at the game in Green Bay, and they snapped a few pics for us from their vantage point...one was on the sidelines (thanks Mr. D.) and one was in a luxury box (thanks Deez)....

So it's the Pats vs. the Giants in the Super Bowl. Not exactly who I expected, but I guess the G-Men have as good a chance as any of those poopy NFC teams...

I can't believe what is about to spew out of my mouth, but because of my disdain for the Pats here it is -

I really hate the Pats...

So first off, I'd like to thank loyal reader Bobinkle for sending me a text message with those exact words on it after the Pats ended Jacksonville's Cinderella run. I really do hate the Pats, and all of their ignorant, stupid-ass comments they left on our "Ten reasons to hate the 2007 Patriots" just dig it in even deeper.

I mean, come on guys, I realize we are a little jealous about how you win, but you did GET CAUGHT CHEATING...that makes you public enemy number one in everyone's eyes, and rightfully so. So go see a Dropkick Murphy's show, drink a Sam Adams and chill out. Our boys in Green Bay (coached by Greenfield's finest Mike McCarthy) will be there soon enough to knock that smug little smirk off your faces...

Now for something we in Pittsburgh actually care about - our Pittsburgh hockey Penguins. They may have lost to the Thrashers Saturday night, but they still got a point for sending it to ovetime and are right in the thick of things in the Eastern Conference.

We've been on a tear, with this being our only loss since before Christmas , and there's been one reason - Ty "Who?" Conklin...He's been a savior since Marc Andre went down, keeping us in games we have no reason being in. If he keeps playing as well as he is, he would have to merit some consideration for the starting job, which, could actually work out nicely because we could use Fluery as a trading chip and actually land a top notch winger. I realize I'm getting ahead of myself here, seeing as he's started something like 10 games this year, but he has really been impressive. He hasn't given up more then three goals in any of his starts, and he seems to work very well with our defensemen.

Cheers, Ty, keep up the good work, hopefully he gets the start Monday night against the Rangers...

Pitt beat Seton Hall Saturday, mostly because of great performances from Sam Young and Dejuan Blair. They combined for nearly 50 points, and totally outclassed the Pirates (ironic, isn't it...the team that plays horribly is called the Pirates...hahaha). It's still gonna be a tough run to March without Mike Cook and Levance Fields, but at least Pitt proved they can win the games they're supposed to win. Monday against the G-Town Hoyas will be the real test...

Duquesne lost a heartbreaker to Rhode Island (who is still ranked but not for long after my UD Flyers beat them earlier in the week) Sunday, but is still much more impressive then they were last year. Check out Duke's Court for all the coverage of Duquesne Hoops you could ever want...

Finally, it looks like the Conference Championships are set in the NFL - It's New England versus San Diego (insert Will Ferrell joke here) and Green Bay versus the Giants on the frozen tundra of Lambuea Field...My early pick is Green Bay versus New England, because there's no way the G-men and Eli go to Green Bay and win, and there's no way a Chargers team led by Billy "never been a starter" Volek can overtake the Patriots...just a fat Greenfielder's opinion, but one that I'm sure is shared by 95 percent of the free world right now...

Also, make sure you check out Mondesi's House, where your boys Snack and Diego are now "staff writers"...Our first post should be sometime this week (I would assume tomorrow so check it early and often)...We'll also be making some changes here as far as our colors and fonts go so it matches our new logo, to be unveiled very soon (maybe even tonight, so once again, check early and often)...

Quick update...

Well boys and girls, last night was a very exciting evening in sports, especially for your boy Big Snack...The talk of the town is obviously Pitt's narrow escape from Washington. They held on to win 75-74, and thankfully, instant replay cancelled a shot Washington sank as time expired...The last two games have been nail biters for the Panthers, but they came out on top in both, which can only help them down the line...

In other news, the Pens won 2-1 in another shootout...That makes it a clean sweep of the great Northwest, with the Pens beating the best Canada has to offer three times in a row...Kris Letang scored the winning shootout goal, again, winning his second in a row...Why don't they put this crazy bastard in the regular shootout lineup? He embarassed Bobby Luongo, who is one of, if not the best goalie in the league...I've never seen a defensemen treat Bobby with such disrespect...This kid is damn talented...

And finally, rounding out the Snack Trifecta, my old stomping grounds, the University of Dayton (a fine "academic" institution) beat those jagoffs from Louisville 70-65, keeping Petino from winning his 500th game...HAHAHAHA It's good to see those boys can still go on without their favorite bouncer/sports info person in their lives...I know how tough it can be to play when your not half kicked in the ass all week, and I lived to make sure that never happened with our boys in red and blue...I guess Little Snack has kept my legacy alive up there and has the hoopers on the right path...

More News...

Looks like Diego is nursing a hangover so I'm going to throw some more links at ya and hopefully he's back in action tomorrow...(unless we do it all over again tonight, of course)

Marvin Harrison is listed as questionable for Sunday's showdown with New England...I'm sure ESPN will use this as a convenient excuse for the Colts losing...Looks like this thing could linger for a while too...

We may not see this for a while...

I can finally gamble without having to go to West Virginia! The Steelers, Bucs and the new North Shore casino project reached an agreement that could allow for groundbreaking on the new casino to start by the end of the year...Whoo hoo, Snack sure does love to lose all his money gambling!

Our boys over at Pens Blog have a really interesting period-by-period, play by play review with a pretty funny take on it..check it out, it definitely makes last night a little more bearable.

We don't need more old guys, we need more HITS!

Finally, as the Pens look more and more mediocre, here's an argument by Damian Cox and Scott Burnside over the value of older players. I think with the struggles of Recchi and Roberts this piece is very relavent, so take a look, and stop all your whining for the Pens to pick up Forsberg!
