The Pens won 4-2 this afternoon at Mellon Arena against the Kings. Malkin had two goals and an assist, and was absolutely dominant up and down the ice.
We played another great game without about half of our lineup, and Danny Sabourin played well in his first start in a while. This propelled us to first place in the Atlantic and second overall in the Eastern Conference.
Next up for the Pens is a Sunday afternoon matchup with the hated Flyers. The puck drops at 1 PM...
The other reason I'm glad is one of my favorites, NASCAR, is up and running. Saturday night was the first race, the Budweiser Shootout, and my boy Dale Jr. won in a close race with Jimmie Johnson, Smoke Stewart and Jeff Gordon. It was his first race with new team Hendrick Motorsports and new teammates Gordon, Johnson and Casey Mears, and if Saturday was any indication, it's gonna be a helluva year for the #88 car...
Junior is my favorite racer, so you'll be reading about his exploits throughout the NASCAR season. Who knows, maybe it'll turn some of yinz into race fans...
Pitt won on a last second 3 from Ronnie Ramon. Overall, it was a good effort against a quality WVU team, and it's always nice to win on a play that will be in the Sportscenter top 10 plays of the day...
We need to keep winning, as we've slipped all the way to 25th in the national rankings...if we lose a few more Big East games our NCAA birth is very much in question...So all in all, nice win, and let's keep it going...
There's no links currently for the Pens victory, but I will say this - other then some sloppy defensive play, we played well. Malone scored, as did Whitney (twice) and Letang. Letang's gamewinner with about 6 minutes left in the third was a great short side shot from a horrible angle...
Another nice win for the boys, but they gotta sure up this D or they could be in some deep doody...
So it’s February, which pretty much means that all the movie’s that are coming out in theaters weren’t good enough for the Christmas season, and most certainly weren’t good enough to come out in the summertime. So the quality of movie releases isn’t all that great right about now. With that said, I still like to go to the movie’s from time to time especially now that football has ended.
I decided to go out and see Strange Wilderness last night. I saw previews for this movie and looked pretty funny; the fat guy from Super Bad and the Mac guy were both in it, which I guess I was considering a good thing (not so sure why). Also, Adam Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison Productions, produced Strange Wilderness. Grandma’s Boy, also produced by Happy Madison, was one of the funniest movie’s I’ve seen in a long time. (if you haven’t seen it I suggest you rent and check it out)

Who doesn’t want their own monkey?
I couldn’t have been more wrong. Strange Wilderness was one of, if not the, worst movies I have ever sat through. It was supposed to be funny, but there were maybe one or two parts where I laughed through the whole thing. On top of that, there was really no plot at all in this one, which wouldn’t bother me if the movie were actually funny, but like I said it wasn’t. Lastly, there was some male full frontal nudity, not once, but twice. So if your into that I guess you should check it out.

Take Diego’s advice and stay away from this one...
Seriously though if you wanna see this movie just send me $5 dollars and I will come to your house and kick you in the nuts… it will save you popcorn and soda money and also a few hours, and you will come out feeling the same as I did after sitting through this piece of trash. I woulda rather got a root canal then watch this piece of rubbish, at least that way I woulda felt something. In all seriousness if you do wanna check out a good flick go to see No Country for Old Men. I did see that one and it kicked some ass and features violence throughout, and one of the scariest bad guy’s I’ve ever seen. (see below)

No Country for Old Men, Diego approved!
Note from Snack - I just got a job, so for the time being, alot of our posts are going to be coming in the evening and overnight hours, so make sure you check with PNA every morning for our new updates...
I actually think it'll work out better, because it'll force my lazy ass to post right after games, when they're still fresh in the old noggin...
Well boys and girls, first off, I want to spologize for not posting yesterday...It was a really boring day in Pittsburgh sports, and we've pretty much been going nonstop since we started this site so we figured, eh, what the hell, let's take a personal day...
Anyway, with that in mind, here's some links to keep ya busy till we post tomorrow about the Pen and Pitt games (they both really need a win after highly disappointing outings last time...)
Shaq is now a Sun. Why the Suns would get rid of Marion for an over-the-hill, fat-assed center, I'll never know...I guess they realized the brand of CYO fastbreak ball they play wsn't getting them a ring, and that they needed some muscle to tangle with the Tim Duncan's and Pau Gasol's of the world...
Freddy Sanchez signed a 2 (or maybe 3) year deal with the Buccos. I always liked him - he plays hard, he's not a terrible fielder, and anyone who bats over .300 (with the power of a 7 year old schoolgirl mind you) is ok in my book...All we need now is someone who can actually hit 35 homeruns...
In some celeb news, that crazy, crazy Britney Spears has been released from a mental hospital against her parents' wishes. Someone needs to get the girl off the streets before she kills somebody. I mean honestly, if you're in CALIFORNIA and they say you're too nuts for your own good, there's something seriously wrong with you...
Roger Clemens and his former trainer are set to appear before Congress. Yup, there's nothing more important in the world right now that our elected leaders could be talking about...I hate when these jagoffs in DC use sports as a way to get their names in the paper, as a way to push their agendas. Stick with what we pay you for guys - no one gives a damn what you think about steriods in baseball...
And finally, it's playoff time for our local high school hoops squads...Check out the matchups and root on your old school...(Go Central Catholic)
The Pens lost last night, 4-3. We blew a two goal lead in the third and it was a highly disappointing result, but at least they pulled into a three-way tie for first in the Atlantic Division.
Petr Sykora got his 600th point of his career, but it wasn't enough to overcome a third period collapse which saw us give up two goals. It seems like we got a little lazy when we got the two goal lead and it cost us big time.
Coach Therrien called out Ryan Whitney for not being aggressive enough and basically called the entire performance unacceptable. All of the players were upset about losing the extra point to a team within the division, and this is something that just cannot happen when Sid's down. We're going to have enough trouble getting points - we can't give them away like this or we won't make the playoffs.
One thing to note - the Pens haven't won back-to-back games since that tear they went on at the end of December...not a good sign.
Until lata today, when we list our top 5 and bottom 5 Super Bowl ads...
Even though I had Giants 4 and Patriots 7 in a rather expensive block poll, and the final score was the exact opposite Giants 17 and Patriots 14. I am still pretty happy about the results of last night’s game. It woulda been nice to win all that money, but watching the Patriots blow their perfect season was also very nice. With that in mind here are a few reasons why I was happy after watching the Super Bowl…
I knew I wouldn’t have to wake up this morning and listen to every anchor and former football player sing the praises of the New England Patriots (As they’ve been doing all year long). It was refreshing to awaken and not have to hear arguments about whether this is the greatest team of all-time; thankfully they answered that question for us last night.
The season was a let down for all the Patriots fans. Remember when the Steelers went 15-1 and then lost to the Pats in the playoffs? It was nice to win all those games, but still pretty disappointing. All those smack talking, message board tough guys are eating a nice big slice of humble pie today thanks to Eli and the Giants, and that makes me smile. =)
Speaking of smiling, it was so sweet seeing Tom Brady walking off the field, as confetti poured down from the sky, not smiling at all. How great was it seeing Tom Brady slouched over walking off the field staring down at the ground in disbelief of what had just happened to him? So good that I actually put a picture of it on my desktop at work so I can come in every morning look at it and cheer myself up! Back to back years knocked out of the playoffs by the Super Manning Brothers… ouch that hurts.

I'll get you Mannings!
Junior Seau and Randy Moss did not get a ring. Junior is older then dirt and should just give up before the steroids really take their toll on his aging body. Randy still may get another shot one day, but blowing this chance will haunt him until that day comes. Just ask Junior if you don’t believe me.
Now that the Super Bowl is over all this Spygate talk is sure to increase over the off-season. With Arlen Spector and congress sticking theirs noses into it, this could spell more trouble for the Patriots if it was determined that they were making more tapes of teams sidelines and/or walk through. Either way, it's not looking like it’s going to be a carefree off-season for the Patriots.
It’s the day after the Super Bowl and I’m pretty sure most of our loyal readers are good and hung over. So after weeks of hype, a lot of money spent on commercials, 60 minutes of football, and millions of chicken wings and pizza’s eaten worldwide the Super Bowl is finally over. No more football till the end of the summer time so let me recap the spectacle that was the Super Bowl to give you something to reflect upon…
Pre-game
Every year it seems like the Super Bowl pre-game show begins earlier and earlier. I am still waiting for the day when the coverage will begin at the Maxim party that is going on the night before game. Seriously though it was going on all day long yesterday, and I couldn’t really bare to watch it all it was just too painful.
What I did catch seemed to be all American Idol’d out. Fox was really promoting the shit out of this stupid show. (And I don’t understand why seeing as how they already get 30 million viewers a week, greedy bastards) There was Paula Abdul lip-syncing to her new song and looking like her usual junked up self (I think Randy was there to catch her incase she passed out or OD’d), there was last year’s winner (don’t know her name sorry) singing the anthem, and finally our very own Big Ben staring in an Idol commercial. (I’ll give it to him it was funny though… also Talbot, Armstrong, Geno, and Gonchar might wanna ask him for some acting pointers) Oh and lets not forget Ryan Seacrest, how in the hell did he get invited to attend this thing; although he no doubt enjoyed seeing all those players in their tight little pants.
The Crowd
Now we all know that the Super Bowl isn’t about football, really its just one big party that goes on all week long and culminates with a football game on Sunday night. So which celeb’s did we spot at the big game last night?
I saw Frank Caliendo with some pretty juicy seats (shout out to Frank for calling the upset hope you put your money where your mouth was).
Also Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey were in attendance, Jenny was still looking pretty smoking hot.
Some one who didn’t look so hot was Pam Anderson, who was hurtin for certain (past her prime, sorry Pam).
We saw Gisele sipping on some cabernet (Note from Tony Romo: Might wanna leave the girlfriend at home next time Tom)
Finally, Peyton Manning was seen what seemed like at least 20 times cheering on little bro Eli.
Aw the good old days Pam…

The Game
Giants win 17-14! Well, well looks like Diego might actually know what he’s talking about with his Top 10 reasons why the Patriots will lose. (link that) No more perfect season pop those bottles ’72 Dolphins! Might as well forget about that trademark for “19-0 The perfect season” cuz you’re not so perfect now.
Wow where to start? This game had a pretty amazing end, but up until that fourth quarter I coulda fell asleep watching it. There is not a lot to be said when the most exciting play of the game, until the last drive, was a 45 yard reception by Kevin “Big Boss Man” Boss. Safe to say that this woulda been the worst Super Bowl ever if the Patriots woulda ended up pulling out another come from behind win. Albeit, this didn’t happen so here are some thoughts and facts from the game.
The Giants suited up seven out of their eight 2007 Draft Picks in the Super Bowl. That includes 7th rounder Ahmad Bradshaw who led the game in rushing yards with 9 rushes for 45 yards.
Giants only had one Pro Bowler on their team, Osi Umenyiora. The Patriots had 8 Pro Bowlers on their squad.
Looks like it’s the giggling Tom Brady who was the one that shoulda kept his mouth shut about the whole “only 17 points?” business.
Seeing as how Junior Seau and his stupid ass hats can’t win the big one, maybe he was the whammy for the Patriots this year?
WHAMMY!

There’s no crying in football! Oh wait maybe there is as Plax starting squirting at the end of his post game interview.
Tom Petty looked better then I expected him to on my buddy Geno’s enormous HD TV, but he still looked like he was high on something. (As reader SeanKidd texted me, it looked like he was copping some of that boy off Marlo from the Wire) Either way not a bad halftime I suppose.
Jeff Feagles he had one hell of a day punting, when they needed him to do his job he did it well. Gotta respect the lone remaining player from Nintendo’s Tecmo Super Bowl . Good to see ole’ gray bush get his ring, and I think he got robbed out of the MVP for the sexier choice, Eli.
The Gmen defense deserves some serious props for their play last night. I am pretty sure that the crispy fade that Michael Strahan got before the game made him more aerodynamic, making it easier for him to hit Tom Brady a whole bunch of times last night.
Ballin!

Maybe it was Tiki Barber who was the whammy in NY? Tiki quits in his prime, and then proceeds to badmouth his former coach, Coughlin, and quarterback, Eli Manning, before the start of the season. All the G-Men have done since then is make history and win a ring, and now Tiki is just an afterthought. Sucks to be him.
Playoff MVP Eli Manning outplayed NFL MVP Tom Brady, and the Patriots and Belichick were out coached and out classed by NY Giants and Tom Coughlin.
I hate Belichick’s guts, that hoodie he was rocking, as my buddy TB pointed out, looked like a Giants hoodie since it was red and he since he was crossing his arms the whole game (maybe he’s trying to hug himself cuz no one loves him). Goin for it on 4th and 13? Nice call “genius”! Also, I think he is a real douche for leaving the field before all time had expired. I am sure he is salty he lost, but at lest you can act like a man!
