Well boys and girls, 2007 has been one helluva year...Snack moved back home from Craphio and Diego has gone the whole year without being arrested (thus far)...Thanks to everyone who's looked at the site, and we look forward to an even better year in 2008...
Here's a few final links for the year, we'll be back with our normal posts on Wednesday...
The Steelers lost yesterday afternoon and no one really cares...Charlie Batch was starting, we sat a ton of starters and we just looked like we didn't give a damn the whole game...Next up is Jacksonville in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, let's hope we don't have a repeat performance of a few weeks ago...(look for much more coverage of the game on PNA in the coming days...)
My boys at the University of Dayton gave Pitt their first loss of the season Saturday by pulverising the Panthers at UD Arena...Brian Roberts, that guard that Snack said was legit as hell, dropped 31 all over Pitt's face, earning him Player of the Week honors from Andy Katz...The real bad news is guard Levance Fields broke a bone in his foot, putting him on IR for at least 8 weeks...It'll be tough for our boys to keep this great start going without Cook and Fields, but if there's one thing I've learned about Pitt it's that you can't ever count them out, so we'll see...Maybe Ronnie Ramon will step up and be the leader Pitt envisioned him to be...
And finally, PNA's favorite Pen, Gary Roberts, is down for a while with a broken fibula (or some other bone in his leg)...suprisingly, there's no article in the PG about it, so I'll have to give you my expert medical opinion, which is Gary Roberts' bones are made off pure titanium, so as soon as he gets the parts flown in from China he'll be back in the lineup...My guess is to allow 4-6 weeks for delivery, what with it being New Years and all...
Ever try watching an entire NBA regular season game? Me either and I don’t really understand why anyone does. The regular season begins in October and it doesn’t end till March or April, that’s way too long for my shortened attention span. Not only is length of the season bad enough, but also every team except for the Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks make the playoffs anyway.

An 88 million dollar payroll and they haven’t made the playoffs since John Starks played...
9. I’ve got better things to do on Christmas then watching hoops.
Such as drinking the bottles of Grey goose and Jager that my brother and cousin bought for me as a Christmas gift, true story, or maybe watching my uncle’s dog Crosby run around my house dressed in his holiday outfit. Both activities are definitely more entertaining then NBA basketball. I draw the line at Trivial Pursuit though I’d rather watch hoops then play that stupid board game.
(Pic from theconnoisseurs.com)
Who needs eggnog when you have a bottle of Jager?
8. Ron Artest
Ron Artest is real piece of work, but he’s also a real good example of what’s wrong with the NBA… The league has suspended Ron Artest numerous times, he’s been arrested, been in a fight in the crowd of a game with a fan, and he even tries to be a rapper. At least he’s never choked a coach I guess, that we know about. Ron’s persona is just another example of the thugged out attitude that the majority of NBA player’s display.

When keepin' it real goes wrong...
7. Pitt Panthers
As far as most Burgher’s are concerned, Pittsburgh already has a professional basketball team, and no not the Explosion; I’m talking about the Pitt Panthers hoop squad. These guys have been kicking ass for the better part of the last decade. Sure, Pitt hasn’t made it past the sweet 16 yet, but the Panthers have brought home 3 Big East Championships in the last 7 years.
6. The refs in the NBA stink (and cheat).
I mean come on NBA refs could you please call traveling, just one time for me… please. These jabroni’s allow the overpaid NBA crybaby’s to get away with anything they want. That’s why you see a player flip out and get T’d up whenever these boneheads finally do decide to make a call. Grow a pair of nuts and make some calls NBA ref’s, you stink.
(Pic from abcnews.com.com)
How does that travelling call go again?
5. Dennis Rodman
Ya I’m pretty sure the NBA is the only league to have a cross dressing, tattooed, body pierced, hair dying weirdo play for them. He looks more sideshow freak then he does NBA player. Rodman is probably best known for his marriage to Carmen Electra, but he has also been linked to Madonna, and lets not forget also rumored to be bi-sexual. If this guy doesn’t have AIDs I don’t know who does. I guess outlandish behavior is forgivable if you can grab 20 rebounds a game.
(Pic from thehype.files.wordpress.com)
Dennis Rodman wrote a book called “I should be dead by now”… no one is arguing with him...
4. We don’t need any distractions from the Steelers (or Pens)
As soon as the Buccos are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, usually around All-Star break or so, all of my attention shifts to the upcoming Steelers football season. If we had an NBA team here that would just give the talk show hosts something to talk about that isn’t that Steelers, and that’s not cool. Focusing on the upcoming Steelers and Penguins season unifies the city as a whole, and it’s somewhat of a melting pot if you will… bringing together people of different ages, race, sex, and religion all for one common goal… another Super Bowl in the burgh. You wouldn’t want to ruin that NBA would ya?
3. The NBA Sucks.
The ratings have been steadily dropping since Michael Jordan retired. Even the lowly ratings of the NHL are becoming comparable to the ratings of the NBA. The NBA’s image is worse then it’s ever been. Players are constantly being arrested or suspended for having guns, shooting guns, rapping about guns, beating up chicks, and smoking weed. (not in that order) We Burgher’s know bad business when we see one, and we don’t wanna have anything to do with it when that weasel David Stern sinks this ship.
(Pic from imageshack.us)
This is what the NBA is missing these days...
2. Lebron James wore a Yankee hat to a playoff game between the Indians and the Yankees. (no loyalty)
Yes folks that’s a Cleveland Indians playoff game and that is indeed Lebron in the crowd happily sporting a Yankees cap. This would be equivalent to Sidney Crosby showing up to a Steelers Browns playoff game rocking a poop colored Brownies jersey. Actually this would never happen because Sid wouldn’t even make it through the parking lot without taking a beating, but you get my point. Everyone likes to talk about how great Lebron is, and those idiots in Cleveland love him, but this was a scumbag move by him.
(Pic from blog.cleveland.com)
Lebron James the People's Champ...
1. Cleveland would be better then us.
Scary though isn’t it? It even hurt a little to have to write that up there. This alone is enough reason to never ever bring an NBA team to the Burgh. First off, we’d have an expansion team so we’d probably suck for at least a good 5 years or so. Second, those lucky sob’s in Cleveland won the lottery and got Lebron. Although we all know he’s going to eventually leave for a bigger market, (and pay day) the fact that they have Lebron now means that we’d get dominated by them every time we played. This is just unacceptable as everyone in Pittsburgh knows we are superior to Cleveland in every other way, shape, and form.
Check it out when you get a chance, his site is the shiznit and there's a different mini pony pretty much every day...
Diego sent this one in from work - It appears there's going to be and estimated 20,000 Steeler fans at the game Sunday...that would never, EVER happen in Pittsburgh...
Over on BuccoBlog, some jagoff Cards fan rants about how their front office lied to them and wah, wah, wah...Look buddy, try going through the heartache for 20 years...Hell, I'm 25 and I've still never seen us in the World Series, so cry me a river jerky...
On With Leather, we have another toolbox calling out bloggers, saying we're uneducated jackasses who shouldn't be calling our writing journalism...First off, I have a degree with a minor in journalism, so I can call anything I write journalism (not so much for Diego, but I proof his stuff so screw it, we'll call it journalism)...Plus, who are you to say what's "professional" and what's not...don't be pissed cause we get more readers then your pathetic little paper...it's the life you chose brah, not me...
PS - anyone with any complaints about our writing style can officially send it noonecares@shutup.com...thanks
Ok boys and girls here's a quickie from your boy Snack to hold you over till I get around to posting some links this afternoon...and come back to PNA this weekend for our new top 10 list (Diego is putting the finishing touches on it now) which is sure to blow yinz away (like always)...
Last night, the Pens won 4-3 in OT...I personally didn't think we played all that well, but Sydor came through in the third to score the tying goal on a slap shot that banked off a defenseman...
Ty Conklin played OK in net, but one thing that was noticed was that 2 of the goals scored against us were because Sergei Gonchar turned the puck over in our own zone, giving the likes of Alex Ovchenkin open shots...You can't do that and expect to win, but thankfully Gonchar came through in OT by plowing one past Ollie the Goalie from just beyond the circle...
Now all we can do is hope the Pens' New Years Resolution is to get a goal scoring winger and a badass defensemen (Hossa and a Pronger-type would be nice) and maybe even a goalie who can stop the puck (Moose Hedberg anyone?)...
Go Pens!
Diego’s alma mater Pitt will be kicking the crap outta Big Snack’s alma mater Dayton in hoops this Saturday.
Note from Snack - Pitt should beat the hell out of good ole' UD, but they did beat Louisville and they have a guard named Brian Roberts who's the truth...Plus let's not forget the Red Scare, UD's student section, and the fact that we've sold out every game for about a millenia...too bad the student body (including Lil' Snack) will be outta town for break, but trust me, the place will be bumpin' and this shouldn't be a cake walk for Pitt by any means...
It’s been a long year for the Steelers, and they are finishing the season pretty banged up...
The Ravens are kinda banged up too; their starting running back Willis McGahee will miss Sunday’s game. Also, former Heisman winner Troy Smith, from the Ohio State, will get the start at QB.
(Pic from msnbc.msn.com)
It's gonna suck to be you on Sunday Troy...
(Note from Snack- Ohio State has, does, and always will suck...Go buy another player Tressel, you f-ing toolbox...I'm sure there's another Mo Clarrett somewhere in Youngstown...)
(Note from Snack- I like this Espisito kid...Always nice to have another Italian in the mix instead of those damn Canadians, although I'm guessing he's a Canadian-Italian-American...or something)
Levance Fields made Si's Dean's List as the player of the week...
Note from Diego- I'm working on a top ten list and should have it done by the end of the week...
Morning everyone, it being Christmas Eve I am going to keep it short and sweet for ya. I wanted to make a little links list to keep you busy while everyone celebrates the Holiday’s. I had a pretty busy weekend as I had to finish my Christmas shopping and also track my fantasy players because it was championship weekend. (Diego is one MNF game away taking home 1st place and a nice cash prize)
Sunday was a good day for the Lers since the Bungals did their job and beat the Brownies, giving us the AFC North crown. Next up for Steeler Nation, cheering on the Denver Broncos in hopes that the Chargers will lose, and the Steelers will solidify their position as the number 3 seed in the AFC playoff picture. (Meaning we’d get to play the Brownies or Titans instead of the Jaguars) Alright that’s all I got hope everyone has a good holiday with their loved ones…
The Pens ended the weekend 1-1 after one win against Boston and loss against the Islanders...
Here's 10 Trades that this guy thinks should happen, some of them involving the Pens...
Maybe that dude knew what we has talking about because according to the Ottawa Sun, Pens GM Ray Shero has inquired about Marian Hossa of the Atlanta Thrashers.
(Pic from nhl.com)
Ole #18 wouldn't look too shabby next to Sid the Kid...
The Steelers are back where they belong atop the AFC North Division...(Note from Snack: Thanks again for crapping yourself DA...hahaha)
Final note from Snack: I hope yinz all have a happy holiday, whichever one it may be...Keep your eyes peeled for our new logo and bumper stickers, hittin the shelves everywhere real soon...also, feel free to email my fat ass if you wanna show your P N'At Pride and get your hands on a T-Shirt (order goes in soon, so don't miss it!) or a bumper sticker...
Just a quick lil' note from Santa Snack to let yinz know our beloved Steelers are in the playoffs...Our early Christmas gift was Derrick Andersen pooping his pants in the final two minutes of the first half, throwing two picks that led to Cincy TD's...And, thankfully, the Bengals didn't lose their minds and give the game back to them damn Brownies in true Cincy style...
Congrats guys, let's see how far we can take this thing...I thing Coach Ditka said it best when he stated that we looked like the old Steelers when Dookie was running the ball...hopefully he don't break his leg like he did when he played for the Pack, or, as we like to call it, "Willie Parker" himself...I think Dookie may have been looking to "Charlie Batch" it for a few years and collect a payday without doing nothing, but now his nuts are in the vice...Step it up Dookie...
Pens are looking good for the time being, leading 3-1...Scary Gary and Big Georges both had goals along with Geno Malkin...I'll post something about it in my Happy Holidays post tomorrow...
OK boys and girls, not much to say about the Pens losing 4-2 to the Isles last night...We looked like crap all around, from Sabby letting in 4 goals to Malkin being lazy and setting one up...it just wasn't pretty...
I hope we finally do the right thing and get a winger who can score and a goalie who can stop pucks...that'd be a sweet gift for Christmas, but you know as well as I do it won't happen...How's that for a lump of coal in your stocking?
All I can say about last night is WOW...Three big games for our local teams and three huge victories...Snack's penthouse loft was bumpin all night long, and the celebration will undoubtedly go on all weekend...
First off, the Steelers beat the Rams 41-24...It was nice to get a road win, and it definitely helps us as far as the playoffs go, but we lost Fast Willie for the season to a broken fibula...Dookie Davenport filled in admirable, and Carey Davis didn't play too bad, but they'll both have to step their game up another notch if we wanna make any kind of run...Kudos also go to Big Ben, who threw 3 TD's and had a perfect passer rating...Good job boys...
The Pens also beat the Bruins 5-4 in a shootout...Sid the Kid had his first "Gordie Howe hatrick", scoring a goal, assisting on two others, AND busting up Andrew Ferrence in a fight...Way to go Sid, I love that the first guy you maul in the NHL used to be a Penguin...very fitting...Am I crazy or did I see some blood coming from Ferrence's face?...Way to go Sid the Slasher, way to go...
And finally, in what was probably the biggest upset of the night, Pitt beat Duke in OT, 65-64...Levance Fields hit a 3 with 4 seconds left, and Dejuan Blair had 20 rebounds in this huge victory...this may even pop us into the top 5 in the polls, but we'll see...The bad news is that it appears Mike Cook is done forever, as he fell pretty damn hard and couldn't put any weight on his knee at all...Coach Dixon was almost in tears talking about him after the game, which is never a good sign...
Well it looks like today will be busier than expected for PNA, as I am coming to you live from Three Rivers Ortheopedics in Aspinwall...So I figured while I wait for my great aunt to be X-rayed, I'd bring some links to yinz that you may enjoy...and don't forget to comment on our Gary Roberts post, as he will hunt you down and murder you if you don't...
Britney Spears' sister is preggo...Nice, just when you thought this family couldn't get any trashier, she goes ahead and does this...Oh yea, did I mention she's 16 and the father is 19...that's a crime in some states...And she has her own show on Nick too...I know I shouldn't laugh at others' misfortune but come on, this is priceless....
In local news, Jake at BuccoBlog has sold his site to some jagoffs from NY...He's now going to be working as a consultant...Congrats buddy, you deserve it, and you definitely know your stuff, but if your site becomes a pile of dog crap I'm going to hunt you down like the dog you are...
And finally, Bobby Bowden is sitting 25 players for their bowl game because they cheated on tests so they could pass and play...So let me get this straight...these jagoffs don't have to pass their tests on their own and they're STILL not a good football team...not an elite one anymore at least...It's time to hang them up Bobby, your old ass just can't cut it with today's dumb ass athletes...
Remind me why he wasn't starting in the first place?
Penn State defensive coordinator Tom Bradley is being considered for the vacant West Virginia coaching job. Can’t really blame him seeing as how he’s been waiting 29 years for JoePa to finally retire.
Be sure to have plenty of IC Light, nacho’s, and chicken wings stock piled for tomorrow. Don’t forget to do some exercises to warm up that remote control thumb; you wouldn’t wanna pull a muscle half way through the night. Also I’m gonna go ahead and get all Anthony Smith on ya and predict, no scratch that, guarantee a 3 and 0 night for the Burgh, an early X-mas gift from our hometown boy’s…
Diego is neglecting his X-mas shopping and many other responsibilities, and is calling off work and heading up to 7 Springs to snowboard on Thursday. Look for the brand spankin new Piergoisnat.com bumper stickers to be invading a neighborhood or bar near you soon. Also, our new logo is going to be getting here real soon courtesy of my main man J. Gallagher. (it’s Gary Robert’s approved don’t worry) So keep your eyes open as Pierogisnat.com should be rolling out a new look for the New Year.
Note from Snack...this is our 100th post...thanks to everyone who has helped us out...we're at 9500 hits, which isn't too bad at all...We'll be sure to remember all of you when PNA is bigger than Jesus...(no offense, God)
OK boys and girls, here's a quick lil recap of the Pens game last night, and look for Diego's links in a little bit, as today's kinda hectic for your boy Snack...
The Pens lost 4-0 last night to the Rangers, getting only 18 shots on net...We looked good for a minute there, then we reverted back to this "we suck at life" stage that we continue to go into...
The only good thing for the Pens yesterday was that goon Chris Simon got the longst suspension (30 games) in NHL history for trying to impale Jarko Ruutu with his skate...screw that a-hole, he's been a punk for years who has absolutely no skills other then being a cheap shot artist...He can't even fight, hell Snack himself thinks he can take him...all his worthless ass can do is hit people when they're not looking and use his stick as a weapon...I hope he never plays the game again, as the NHL is a lot better off without people like him in the game...And you wonder why they say hockey is a game of thugs with no athletic talent?
Ok boys and girls, here's a lil' something Diego and I decided to do while drinking our faces off at the wonderful Cyrstal's in the Strip...Gary Roberts is one of the most feared players in the NHL (in our minds), and is bar none the most badass on our team (sorry big Georges, Gary's a pimp and playa...So here's some random facts we found out about Gary Roberts, and feel free to add your own in the comments section...The best ones will be posted in our bi-weekly Gary Roberts post, as well as the ones that us geniuses concoct...
(Pic from postgazette.com)

Gary Roberts' body temperature is 32 degrees, he is literally cold as ice...
Gary Roberts has no soul... he takes other people's
Gary Roberts doesn't use fabric softner because he likes the pain...
Gary Roberts will eat your kids...
When President Bush is in a quandry he calls Gary Roberts and asks him how he would handle the situation. The answer is always the same, "kick some serious a$$" (this is how the Iraq war really started)
Gary Roberts takes sh*ts that are bigger than you...
Gary Roberts has never wrote a check with his mouth that his a$$ couldn't cash...
Gary Roberts has never had a hat trick.. because no person, place, or thing can trick Gary Roberts. I mean no one!!
Gary Roberts can do enough sit ups to power the Mellon arena for the entire year...
If you look directly into Gary Roberts' eyes his cold stare will turn you to stone instantly...
Gary Roberts once got a 5 minute major game misconduct penalty for being a bad a$$ mofo...
Gary Roberts' age is listed as 42, but in all actuality he is immortal...
Gary Roberts can check you so hard your unborn children will feel it...
Gary Roberts' bones are made of pure titanium...
Contrary to popular belief, Gary doesn't wear pads...He's just that big...
Gary Roberts once tried to take off his skate and stab someone with it...
Gary Roberts sleeps standing up, with his eyes open...
A man once claimed he beat Gary Roberts in a fight... he was never heard from again...
Don't forget to add your comments, that's how we're gonna keep this thing goin'...there's only so many facts that the booze can bring out of us...
Well at least that Jags game was more exciting than the one last year… still pretty much sucked though. Your boy Diego had a busy weekend bartending at Palazzo (sixth street downtown right next to six penn) so I didn’t get the chance to partake in as much sports viewing I am usually accustomed to over the weekend. I did get a chance to watch a good part of the Pitt game Saturday afternoon, but I completely missed the Pens 3-2 victory over the Islanders Saturday night, so I will leave that recap to Snack.
Oklahoma St. (5-4) 68
Pitt (10-0) 85
I’ll go with the good news first, Pitt remains undefeated by beating Oklahoma St. at the Pete. This is the fifth straight year that Pitt has opened the season with ten straight wins. The schedule starts getting tougher from here on out, as Big East play begins soon. Still, Pitt is playing at a high level right now so as long as they keep playing the way they are, then they should win a lot of games this year and even compete for the Big East crown.
The first half of this game is probably the best basketball I’ve seen Pitt play all year long. The starting five of Young, Cook, Blair, Fields, and Ramon are really playing well together on both offense and defense. Pitt’s game plan of playing stifling defense and transition offense has worked out in their favor so far this year. Pitt totally outplayed Ok St. in the first half scoring 49 to Ok St’s 31. Pitt also shot a ridiculous 68% from the field in the first half, going five for eight from behind the arc. Pitt ended the half with a 20-5 run, in which Sam Young scored 11 straight points for the Panthers.
Ok St. began the second half with 14-5 run, but the deficit proved to be too large to come back from. Freshman phenom Dejuan Blair, once again, had a big game for the Panthers scoring 20 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and swatting 5 shots away. Cook and Young both had 15 points apiece. Guards Fields and Ramon both were solid as well scoring 17 and 10 while dishing out 11 assists between the two. All five starters managed double digits in this win on Saturday. Pitt’s defense as a whole also forced 17 turnovers throughout the game. This win was Pitt’s 27 consecutive win against a non-conference opponent at home.
Pitt’s game definitely looks just as good if not better then it did last year at this time, but it still may be a little premature to judge this team’s effectiveness and longevity. We will have a better grasp on this after Thursday night’s 8PM match up against Duke, their first real opponent of the year, at Madison Square Garden in NYC. (road trip anyone?) The one thing that concerns me is Pitt’s lack of a true big man. Blair is handling business thus far against non-conference foes, but the competition gets stiffer as Big East play starts. Seeing how the Pitt freshman handles such big men as 7’2” Roy Hibbert from Georgetown and 6’11” Daivid Padgett from Louisville should be interesting. For now we will enjoy our undefeated record, and look forward to seeing 9-0 Duke and their two underclassman standouts sophomore guard/forward Gerald Henderson and freshman forward Kyle Singler, who are both averaging a team leading 13.6 points per game.
Steelers 22
Jaguars 29
The Steelers last home game of the 2007 season and all they needed was a win and they clinched a playoff birth, but the Jags came into town and rained on our parade. Was it just me, or did it seem like the Jag’s came to our home field, and smashed us in the mouth with a taste of our own medicine? That medicine being pounding the ball on the ground, taking a few shots down field, and bending on defense, but not breaking. Do not be fooled by the fourth quarter comeback of the Steelers, the Jaguars were clearly the better team on Sunday… that leads to the question where does that leave the Steelers?
The Jag’s seem like they have the Steelers number. These two teams play such a similar style of football that when we do play it usually boils down to which team has the ball last. This was not the case yesterday, as the Steelers had the ball last but failed to convert a 4th and 7, as Heath Miller did everything in his power to try to extend out to reach the first down after being hit, but came up half a yard short. The offense has been struggling in the last couple games, and the Steelers struggled to put up points on the board until the fourth quarter. Ben was avoiding pass rushers all day long as the lineman had difficulty holding off the front four of the Jagoffs. Ben was put down five times, and it really shoulda been six as he dumped off a pass to fast Willie as he was going down for another sack. The O-line has been a problem all year for us and now that they are banged up it is getting even worse. Even though Ben was getting hit all day, he did manage 3 TD passes, which catapulted him past Bradshaw for the most in a Steelers season.
One thing that the last couple of weeks have proved is that the Steelers defense certainly is not the cream of the crop in the NFL this year. They failed to get one sack for the second game in a row, even though they were bringing the blitz all day long. Throughout our early victories the D was dominant, being stingy on both the ground and the air. The last few weeks have showed us this defense is unpredictable, as we have let up 29 points and 421 yards of total offense this week, and 34 points and another 421 yards of offense the week before. Mind you, this is coming against two teams who are playoff bound in the AFC the Jaguars and Patriots. Our defense started out strong against weaker opponents such as the 49ers, the Bills, and the Ravens, but they have been faltering as of late.
I’ll give it to the Jag’s they really came to this game prepared to run, and run is what they did rushing for over 200 yards on the day, the most the Steelers have given up since the year 2000. And what about the 20 play drive to start the second half? The Jags even converted two fourth downs on that drive, that just cannot happen if you want to win ball games.
The best description I could give of the Steelers effort so far this year is inconsistent. So now what? With a loss yesterday the Steelers dropped from the third playoff spot, down to the forth, meaning that there may not be any playoff game held at Heinz field this year. That could be trouble as the Lers are 2-4 on the road this season. Also trouble is the fact that the Steelers can’t seem to beat any good teams. I don’t see us standing a chance versus the Colts or Pats in the playoffs, and even the Jags and the Chargers would give the Steelers trouble if we were to see them in January. Part of the problem definitely stems from out defense’s recent inability to sack the opponents QB; we have only one sack in the last three games. Whenever we bring the blitz its getting picked up, maybe its time we unleashed 2nd round pick Lamar Woodley? After all isn’t he supposed to be a QB pressuring beast? That still remains to be seen.
Also, its clear the O-line needs some type of help; more max protections could be the answer, but Ben seems to be having problems finding open receivers now and with even less people going out on routes it won’t make it any easier on the big guy. Of course it usually easier to find the open man when you don’t have 250+ pound men chasing you around. Not to mention the fact that it would render one of our top receivers, Heath Miller, ineffective in the pass game as he would be forced to stay in the backfield and block.
The way I see it the only chance we have to win a game in the playoffs, right now, is if we would play the Brownies, and now that we are the fourth seed in the AFC playoff bracket that may not happen. If that weren’t enough the Steelers have to go to St. Louis to play Thursday night, and they were looking pretty banged up after that game yesterday so this one could mean more trouble for the good guys.
The Steelers officially blow, losing to those tools from down south, the Jacksonville Shaguars 29-22...Big Ben broke the Blonde Bomba's record of 28 TD throws in a season with 3 TD's, but it wasn't enough as our defense looked horrible...Number 1 ranked D my ass...Hopefully we can hold the fort long enough to get to the playoffs, but we'll prolly get our asses handed to us there too...
It was a big weekend in high school sports, as my Central Vikings won a state title, as did Jeanette and TJ...Congrats to all the guys on big wins, and I hope we can repeat next year, maybe even taking all four title games...
And let's not forget about our old friends the Pens, who wining 3-2 on Saturday, defeating the Islanders on their home ice...Congrats to the boys and congrats to Tyler Kennedy for being promoted to the top line...Good work youngin, keep it up...Another young gun to add to the arsenal, that's what I'm talkin bout...
And finally, jagoff Rich Rodriguez is leaving WVU for Michigan...and rumor has it he told Terrelle Prior beforehand too...Is it too late to add MIchigan to his final list of schools?
Oh yea, I wanted to congratulate the Dolphins on finally getting off the schnide by beating the hapless Ravens...Purple people eaters no more...Hey Ray, why don't you go back to prison where you belong jerky?
Looks like gray bush still has some game… The Recchi’n ball scored 2 goals last night in his debut with the Thrashers.
Speaking of Recch’s some people are upset that he dissed Pittsburgh by some comments he made last week… What did you expect him to say we were right and he is washed up?
(note from Diego: Mike Ditka just picked Dolphins to upset Ravens as his underdog pick of the week on ESPN radio… I’m not sure what coach was smoking, but he needs to send some Diego’s way. Too bad Big Snack will probably take them on his parlay sheet now)
It looks like the Pens will be relying on ole’ Danny S. between the pipes as the Flower is going to be out with an ankle sprain for the next couple months. One of Diego’s favorite players, the Tal-BOT aka Max Talbot, will also be out for a couple weeks.
(Pic from hockeygoalies.org)
Where is Tom Barrasso when you need him?
The Buccos signed 36 year old grizzled veteran Chris Gomez to a deal. Good to see the Bucco’s finally finding that last piece of the puzzle that they’ve been missing these last 15 years. Man I really hope Snack gets me Bucco’s season tickets for Christmas this year.
Rumor time
There are rumors circulating online that the Bucs are looking to acquire Mariners starting pitcher Jeff Weaver, maybe its because he pitched a 4 hit shutout against us June 20th. Let us not forget his record was 7-13 last year with a 6.20 ERA last year. Not to mention he comes with a 9 million dollar salary, no wonder the Bucs are interested.
More Jason Bay talk this week and now people are saying a deal could be in the works with the Padres, who have repeatedly failed to land a free agent outfielder this off-season. Catcher Michael Barrett is said to be involved, prospect Chase Headley’s name is coming up again, as is Xavier Nady. Only time will tell.
Random Ramblings
Tim Tebow is the man. Not only did he become the first sophomore to win the Heisman trophy this weekend, and he gets to hook up with hot coeds at Florida, but he also has a website dedicated to “Tim Tebow Facts”. If you’ve ever seen the Chuck Norris facts then you know what I’m talking about.
Diego’s movie pick of the week is No Country for Old Men. I checked out this flick last week and it is ruthless. It’s based on the book by Cormac McCarthy, and centers on a drug deal gone wrong on the prarie in Texas. Anton Chigurh steals the show as a sociopath who rolls around with captive bolt pistol (google it) and a shotgun equiped with a silencer trying to track down the missing drug money. Check this one out, you won’t be dissapointed.
Yes folks both Kennywood and the Meadows were sold to companies operating in Spain and Australia this week. People in Pittsburgh are acting like our small city is being taken over by foreign entities. It pains me to know that people in this town really are that ignorant as to think that Kennywood will turn into “one big taco stand”. Kennywood sucked anyway, its sucked for a lot of years, and if anything the sale will make it better because they’ll actually spend some money and put in some new rides to attract new customers. Instead of giving us the same crappy rides we’ve been going on since Greenfield day at Kennywood in the 1st grade. People in this town are so scared of change that it makes me wanna slap someone. I’ve heard, “are you gonna have to press 1 for spanish and 2 for english” and “they better not get rid of the fries for some rice and beans or there’s gonna be a problem” You closed minded yinzer’s need to find christ brah, and relax your precious Kennywood isn’t going anywhere.
Here's a link to the report on MLB...Check it out, we'll have some reaction once we get to read it and see who all is involved...and look in the back, it has cancelled checks from people who bought the 'roids...Denny Neagle has like 10 cancelled checks...too bad he still sucked...
The much-anticipated Mitchell Report drops today at 2PM Eastern Time. This report has to do with the steroid scandal MLB has been facing the last few years. Why doesn’t the MLB relax and just sweep the whole steroid thing under the rug like they do in the NFL? After all, everyone knows that players are cheating in the NFL, (Shawn Merriman, Rodney Harrison, Marcus Stroud… etc) but no one seems really seems to care, or wanna do anything about it, I know it doesn’t bother me if players wanna take the juice. Besides MLB, chicks dig the long ball.
You may want to sit down to read this one… but Pirates president doesn’t expect any current Pirates players to be on the list of 60-80 players named on the Mitchell Report… I am shocked… simply shocked.
(Pic from art.com)
These jagoffs should be forced to take 'roids...
Another bombshell dropped today… Roger Clemens is reportedly listed on the Mitchell Report. The man is older then dirt, but yet still has every top team in baseball bidding, and willing to pay top dollar, for his services, with every passing year. Is it his natural god given ability? I think not. I know people like to talk about his extreme workout program in the off-season, but give me a break. Roger may have found the fountain of youth, too bad it comes inside a syringe that he sticks in his butt. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn half the Yankees roster is juicing, guess we’ll see at 2PM today.
(note from Snack...I'll have a post up right after the names are released, so stop back at PNA to hear our reactions to this reports)
Well boys and girls, we got our asses handed to us by the Flyers 8-2...It was horrible, but at least we kicked their asses in some fights...Props to Gary Roberts for beating the hell out of the guy who cheap shoted Big Georges...
Sid the Kid assisted on both goals, coming from Peter Sykora and Ryan Whitney...Sabby looked like crap, and Ty Conklin wasn't much better...It's ok though, we did win 3 of 4 on our road trip, and going in I didn't think we'd win one the way we were playing...
Wednesday is probably going to be a down day, as I have to go scoop Lil' Snack up from Dayton...fun, fun, fun...Hopefully Diego and crew can post something but it's more likely I'll just have a double post from Diego and I on Thursday...
So instead of stopping the Patriots run at history, we just became another notch on their belt on the way to perfection. I have to admit that when I first heard about Anthony Smith’s comments this week I thought it wasn’t such a bad thing, I mean at least we knew he wasn’t scared to go up against the big bad Patriots. I was dead wrong, not because we got beat on and Smith got burned repeatedly during the game…. But because all I heard all week, during the whole game, and after the game was nothing but Anthony Smith, Anthony Smith, Anthony Smith. Even Belichick managed to call him out after the game, geez the Patriots are kinda sensitive. Anyway you won’t have to worry about hearing about Anthony Smith again in this article at least, I am done with him, and he’s dead to me, time to move on to bitching about the game Sunday.
Wow that pretty much sucked huh? And by that I mean the Steelers all round effort on Sunday, as they were outplayed in every facet of the game except in running the ball, and that didn’t even matter since the Patriots didn’t even try to do that. I am not even sure where to start… I guess we’ll start with the defense because that’s where everyone thought we would have the advantage. The Steelers did not look like the #1 defense on Sunday, they tried to pressure Brady and it even worked a little in the beginning of the game, but regrettably our aggressiveness worked against us. We let up two HUGE plays for TD’s in the 1st half. The inability of the Lers to stop the big play ultimately led to their demise in this one, as our offense was forced to play catch up throughout the day.
The defense looked good on the 1st drive stopping Brady and company for the first time all season. However, the Pats came back and scored on 6 out of their next 7 drives (one resulting in a missed field goal). For the most part it looked as if the Steelers brought a five man rush, but they had trouble rattling Brady all day long. The failure to pressure Brady combined with the over aggressiveness allowed the Pats to gain the advantage. At one point of the game Brady actually threw the ball 35 straight times (brings back bad memories doesn’t it?) The spread offense and short, quick, dump off passes allowed the Pats to move down the field efficiently, and the Steelers had no answer (maybe we should trade for DeAngelo Hall in the offseason I know he’s got a bad attitude but at least the man can cover). Brady found Welker and Moss whenever he wanted to and he passed for 399 yards, dissecting the #1 pass defense in the league.
On offense the Steelers struggled to score points in the red zone and that cost them dearly. The inability to score TD’s added to the defect that the Steelers faced. Even though they were close at halftime, 17-13, the Steelers offense was outplayed as they failed to convert third downs and continued giving the ball back to the potent Pat’s offense. The low point came as the Steelers trailed 34-13 and had a first and goal inside the Pat’s 10 yard line. First play run to Dookie Davenport, no dice. Second play, some sort of weird running play to Hines, stopped again. Third down alley oop pass to Dookie Davenport, what did they expect to happen? Fourth down, and their last chance, and they call another gadget play, an end around to Hines Ward and that’s it folks game over for our boys.
Did I miss something? Did the Steelers have some sort of contest running where a fan gets to call plays for a series? How about a play action bootleg pass to the tight end (its not like that’s been working all year for us)? And not one but two gadget plays to Hines? I mean I like him too, but come on mix it up a little will ya? It really goes to show ya that we miss the big guy, Jerome Bettis, if he were still on the team is there any doubt that we score on this series? At this point I was so fed up I had to leave the room and start drinking heavily to ease the pain of this horrible game. Here’s hoping they get it together for next week, see you’s guys then…
Well yesterday was a sad day for Snack, as he saw White Marcus defeat him by 3 in fantasy football...Now all we can hope for is tanning shop Frank to beat the piss outta him...get em' cheif...
Now for some real news...
The Stache' must know his stuff, as he just signed three more high profile WPIAL recruits, including QB Tino Sunseri (son of famous Pitt player Sal Sunseri) from my old school, Central Catholic...why he would choose Pitt, seeing as we have about 34 QB's on scholarship, is a mystery to me, but hopefully he redshirts a year, cause I think he's gonna be a good one...the kid knows how to win...And what about the other two recruits you ask? They're two WR's who are six-feet-five and six-feet-six...I can definitely see the upside of having two huge kids like that...Plus we stole them from schools the likes of Miami, Florida and WVU...HAHAHAHA...Well played Wanny, well played...
The Pens are playing tonight on Versus at 7 PM agaisnt those tools from Philly..This could be a historic night, kinda, because only one other time have the Pens have swept a road trip 4-0 was in 1988...Not really important, but what is important is the Pens coming within 3 points of division-leading New Jersey...
And in other Pens news, Sid the Kid won the Lou Marsh Award, which is apprently a big deal to our Nieghbors to the North...My first thought was that it was an award named after Stan Marsh's Dad for taking a 9 Couric dump(please tell me you guys get the South Park reference), but apparently it's the sportsmen of the year award up there...Good work Sid...
In Steeler news, it appears Aaron Smith is done for the year...I know, I wish it were the other Smith too, that loud mouthed bastard...I don't know who's gonna fill in, but I sure hope they can do better then Nick Eason and Travis Kirschke...They're both older then my dad and I can see Jacksonville doing very bad things to them...
And finally, those hoopies in the West Virginia Band got in trouble for posting derogatory comments in their instruments...Wow, those poor bastards probably wrote "Bite me, Pitt" in their little horns and now theyre being disciplined...But, seeing as I hate everything about that state (other then legal poker games and, in two weeks, table games, of course), I think it's appropriate...I also think we should take this another step further, and have them all arrested for slander and/or harrassment depending on what the wrote...Maybe even hate crimes, seeing as they do hate us...
Until lata...and write some comments people...everyone wanted them, now we got them, and no one's made a comment besides my fat ass...I expect some funny shit guys...
Well folks this was the weekend we’ve all been waiting for, too bad it didn’t turn out how we all expected it to. I’m not sure what it is about Pittsburgh sports, but it seems like their can only be one team on a hot streak at a time in this city, and this week it was the Penguins. The Pens got three wins this week, all of which coming in overtime, and all of which coming against opponents from western Canada. Kris Letang proved calling him up from Wilkes-Barre was wise as he provided the game winner in the shootout two games in a row. The Flower got hurt early in the week, but Danny S came in and looked impressive in his two starts leading Bob Erray to state, “maybe they shouldn’t tell Sabourin when he’s gonna play in future games.” The Pens have won 8 of their last 9 games making their record 15-12 for the season.
It is good to see the Pens finally getting their act together. It seems like the lines that Thierren has going now are meshing well together. I know coach T likes to mess around with the lines a lot, but apparently there is a method to his madness, as he seems to finally have put all of the pieces of the puzzle together. I especially like the fact he is giving Malkin and Crosby minutes on the penalty kill, as their hard work seems to be supplying the Pens with more energy and goal scoring chances. It is also nice to see Danny S stepping in and playing on a high level in goal. All these factors combined with the fact that Mad Max Talbot is back in the starting lineup, are adding up to more wins and more points for the once struggling Pens team. Next up we’re in Philly tomorrow night for a rivalry game with Flyers.

Could he give Sid a few pointers in the shoot out?
Pitt 75
Washington 74
The Pens weren’t the only sports action on Saturday, we also were treated to a Pitt basketball game. The Panthers played the Washington Huskies Saturday afternoon, and after 7 games in the Pete, and 1 game down the road at the AJ Palumbo Center, this game would be their first true road game. This would be no walk in the park either, as the Huskies were sporting a 31 game winning streak against non-conference opponents at home (4 years and 5 days incase you were counting), which was the longest such streak in the Nation.
Pitt struggled a little in the first half of this one, but managed to keep it close thanks to 16 first half points out of point guard and team leader Levance Fields. Fields had a game high 20 points going 7 of 9 from the field. Sam Young and Mike Cook each contributed 14 points. The highlight of the game came off of a steal and fast break opportunity, on a give and go pass with Young and Fields, which resulted in an alley-oop slam-dunk from high-flyer Sam Young (37 inch vertical leap). Blair also came up huge on Saturday posting a double double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. He actually grabbed 14 of the 31 rebounds Pitt had in the game, and he also had 3 steals and 2 blocks.
The Huskies were led by guard Appleby who came off the bench and scored 18 (on 6 three pointers), including a couple three’s late in the game that kept his team alive. Forward Brockman played a big role for Washington, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 boards, 7 on the offensive end. Washington, trailing most of the second half due to a strong start from Pitt, actually had a chance to win this one at the end of regulation. Huskies point guard Dentmon hit what appeared to be the game winning lay-up, after a Fields missed foul shot, which led to a celebration from the crowd. The play was close though and after what seemed like an eternity the ref’s made the right call and waved off the winning basket because the ball hadn’t left his hand before the clock expired, giving Pitt their 9th win of the season.
Pitt may have got lucky in this one, but the Washington Huskies looked like a pretty solid team, especially playing on their home court. It is good to see upperclassman Fields and Young having a solid season thus far. There were ramblings that Young was unhappy with his playing time last year as a sophomore, but luckily for Pitt he decided to stick around, and it is paying off as Young is putting up points in bunches. The biggest difference between this year’s team and last year’s is that we now have an outstanding athlete at the center position. The presence of DeJuan Blair allows Pitt to play more of a transition game, which we lacked with super slow white boy Gray, and that seems to favor all of those NYC guards on the team who like to run and gun. Losing big-man Aaron Gray definitely hurts, but so far Blair isn’t playing like a freshman; his hard work ethic is translating into better chemistry with the players who surround him. Pitt gets a week break before they see Oklahoma at home next Saturday afternoon.
My body double is furious over the whole Michael Vick conviction and sentencing...Apparently dogfighting is a favorite pastime over in Jersey...and I thought all they did was chop bodies up, throw them into bowling bags and then go and get perms and tackey jewlery...Bada Bing!
Well, as if you didn't know already, our Steelers got worked over pretty good yesterday by the Cheaters, 34-13...Don't worry, at least we didn't do anything stupid like guarentee a victory...Oh, right...
Our "Number 1 Ranked" defense pooped in the bed, alllowing Randy "pass that blunt" Moss and Wes "I look like I touch little boys" Welker to run free and make us look foolish...Oh yea, and who got burned on at least two of the TD's?...You guessed it, old loudmouth himself, Anthony Smith...This kid needs to learn to shut his mouth or else I'm sure he'll have Big Ben's size 15 up his ass...
More to come on this embarassing defeat in Diego's Monday Morning Hangover...
Here's to hoping we pull one out against the Shaguars next week...And here's to hoping our new comments forum that I supposedly linked shows up on this post...Make sure to drop us a line if it does!!!
Well boys and girls, last night was a very exciting evening in sports, especially for your boy Big Snack...The talk of the town is obviously Pitt's narrow escape from Washington. They held on to win 75-74, and thankfully, instant replay cancelled a shot Washington sank as time expired...The last two games have been nail biters for the Panthers, but they came out on top in both, which can only help them down the line...
In other news, the Pens won 2-1 in another shootout...That makes it a clean sweep of the great Northwest, with the Pens beating the best Canada has to offer three times in a row...Kris Letang scored the winning shootout goal, again, winning his second in a row...Why don't they put this crazy bastard in the regular shootout lineup? He embarassed Bobby Luongo, who is one of, if not the best goalie in the league...I've never seen a defensemen treat Bobby with such disrespect...This kid is damn talented...
And finally, rounding out the Snack Trifecta, my old stomping grounds, the University of Dayton (a fine "academic" institution) beat those jagoffs from Louisville 70-65, keeping Petino from winning his 500th game...HAHAHAHA
It's good to see those boys can still go on without their favorite bouncer/sports info person in their lives...I know how tough it can be to play when your not half kicked in the ass all week, and I lived to make sure that never happened with our boys in red and blue...I guess Little Snack has kept my legacy alive up there and has the hoopers on the right path...
Until tomorrow, when I'm writing about the Steelers big victory over the Cheaters...and Emmit Smith, go to hell...You sound illiterate and I hope you never work another day in this industry, you punch drunk, retarded prick...Good Day...
The Pens won last night, 3-2 against the Flames...The game was sent to overtime by Ryan Malone, whose unassisted goal was absolutely sensational...In the shootout, Kris Letang, yes a defensmen, scored the winning goal on a nifty little move and flip...His offensive play has really been top notch...
Game Notes: Marc "The Flower" left the game with what appeared to be a knee or an ankle very early in the game...Sabby came in and played admirably, especially in the shootout...Geno Malkin scored the first goal, his 11th of the season, on the powerplay.
Thanks to ESPN Page 2 for this one, 33 Reasons the Steelers Will Beat the Pats. Pretty funny stuff, if you ask me...They also have the 15 Worst Guarentees Ever, in honor of our boy Anthony Smith...Well, I guess that silly bastard became an overnight sensation...now let's hope he doesn't crap the bed against the Pats...
Seriously going for it on 4th down when you already got the game well in hand? Leaving your all-pro QB in the game till the bitter end no matter what? It is just unnecessary for this team to constantly blow out opponents. If you have the game won why don’t you put in some backups? No wonder everyone outside of Boston hates you.
9. Randy Moss...
The knock on the Pats used to be that they didn’t really have a big name wide out for Brady to throw to, but that all changed in the off-season with the signing of crybaby Randy Moss. We all have heard the stories that Moss quit on his team in Oakland and then publicly cried about his situation until they released him. And we’ve all seen him pouting on the bench, but I guess he’s happy now that all he’s doing is catching TD’s from Tom Brady all day long. Once a jagoff always a jagoff, if you ask me, you shoulda went to Green Bay Moss, you suck at life!
(Pic from projo.com)
Randy Moss, role model to children everywhere...
8. The Patriots fans are annoying...
The only Pats fan I like is the dude from NFL network commercials, and he is imaginary. “How could I forget about the blonde bomba” As far as I’m concerned the rest of those annoyingly accented, clam chowder eating, bastards can kiss my as$. These fans are so obnoxious about their team it makes me sick. Half of them are probably just jumping on the bandwagon. We all know that the Red Sox are the most popular team in town anyway you fair-weather jerk offs. In an all out no holds barred brawl I would put my money on the Steeler nation any day of the week.
7. Their old balls linebackers...
Not only are the Pats linebackers older then dirt, but they also cheat. Vrabel is a whiner and all he does is take cheap shots, such as in the Cleveland game when he dove at the knees of tackle Joe Thomas with 11 seconds left in the game winning 34-17. Then there’s Ted Bruschi, who knows when he’ll have another steroid induced stroke, look at the size of his head and tell me he’s not on the juice. Finally, Junior Seau who ‘retired’ from the Dolphins only to sign with the Pats four days later. This guy has been playing for like 20 years, he probably wears depends during games so he doesn’t drop a JoePa in the middle of missing a tackle.
(Pic from cdn.news.aol.com)
Ooops, I crapped my pants!!!
6. Wes Welker’s creepy mustache...
I was watching sportscenter on Monday morning all hungover and BAM out of nowhere appears Wes Welker, and he was sporting what I believe is a pretty creepy ‘stache. Maybe he should try to call up Wannestadt and get a few pointers on growing a ‘stache like a real man, instead of like a 15 year old kid. Good thing Wes keeps his helmet on while he’s shown on TV cuz if he didn’t this mustache would be creeping people out across the country. Maybe Wes is just going for the Uncle Rico look, who knows? (note from Diego: me and Snack tried hard to find a pic of the stache but we failed miserably, if I were him I wouldn’t be taking pics of it either, so be sure to check it out Sunday during the game)
5. They’re cheaters...
Sure they say every team in the NFL does it they just don’t get caught…. Oh ya thanks for trying to rationalize your cheating for us, but remind me how many other teams have been busted taping opponents plays? That’s right it’s a big fat zero. The NFL is going to take away their first round pick, but if you ask me that’s just a slap on the wrist. Not only did they tape play calls from opponents but they’ve also been accused of paying out bounties if, for example, the defensive line holds a rusher under a certain amount of yardage, and the ref’s have been called out for making calls in there favor. How much help do these bastards need?
4. Rodney Harrison is an admitted cheater...
I suppose you can call Harrison the “tough guy” of the Patriots defense, he took over this roll after Ty Law left a few years back. Harrison is usually the one running his yapper, and he used to be able to back up his tough talk back in his younger days at least. Nowadays Harrison is past his prime and washed up, and I am assuming these are the reasons why he cheated and took HGH. Did you see that exchange between him and Raven’s coach Brian Billick on Monday night? I wish he would try some nonsense like with Mike Tomlin, who is only 10 months older then Harrison. Tomlin wouldn’t blow any kisses, but he probably would sprint at Harrison and Goldberg spear the sh*t out of him right there on the field.
3. Tom Brady and his illegitimate child...
The man can do no harm as a football player, but in real life Tom is known to get around. Now I’m not saying that Tom has any VD, but we already have evidence he doesn’t like to wrap it up. It would be nice for him to get some type of flare up before the game Sunday; it makes it harder to throw a football with itchy nuts and discharge. This dude has banged every model/actress in Hollywood… who’s next Britney?? I wouldn’t do it Tom you know she is fertile and I’m sure that child support to Bridget Moynahan is already taking a nice chunk of change out of your pocket. I agree with the WDVE morning show, if we are somehow losing in the 4th quarter we should bring out Leo DiCaprio to make out with his ex-lady, and Tom’s current main squeeze, Gisele on the sideline.
(Pic from people.com)
How are those sloppy seconds treatin' ya, Tom?
2. The media’s constant admiration of this team...
Every f’n network, it doesn’t matter which one it is, rides the d*ck of Tom Brady and his precious Pat’s, and it literally makes me want to puke. How annoying was it the week they played the Colts? We heard about this game nonstop for a week it was pretty frustrating. I am so sick of hearing about the Patriots week in and week out on every sports segment on TV, radio, and newspaper. Even during other team’s games announcers feel it is necessary to make references and comparisons to Brady and the Pats, it’s just ridiculous. I don’t remember the Colts getting this much attention when they were undefeated a few years ago. Also, I hate that humble pie crap that the Patriots try feeding to the media. You aren’t the underdog after you win 3 Super Bowls you a*sholes!
(Pic from viewimages.com)
President of the Tom Brady man-crush fan club...
1. Bill Bellichek and his stupid hoodie...
I think Bill Bellichicken (thanks Carl) is the most hated man in sports today. That is quite a bold proclamation, as there are convicted and accused felons, murders, rapists, drug dealers, thugs, and gangsters spread throughout professional sports. This dude is just an all around jagoff though, he wears that dumb hoodie every game, he always has that constipated look on his face, he talks with that monotone voice of his, he runs up the score on team’s, and he would barely even hug his own former offensive coordinator after he played him last year. I heard a rumor that even Bellichek’s own mother hates his guts. I can’t believe that people in Boston actually buy that freakin cut off hoodie he wears (not only buy it but its sold out everywhere). Whenever he is on the sideline he reminds me of some panhandler down on Liberty Ave begging for my pocket change.
WVU's kicker was gettng death threats because he sucks and blew two kicks against our Panthers...Those hoopies haven't been this mad since the Beverly Hillbillies was taken off the air, or since marrying your cousin became a crime in WV in 2004, whichever was last...
The Pens win was somewhat of a shock, as they played like absolute dog crap for two periods, missing all of their scoring opportunities...But something happened in the third period...It was like Sid yelled at his boys and got them going, because they played like they had a fire under their asses and scored four unanswered goals to win 4-2...Sid finished with 3 assists, and goals were scored by the Talbot, Colby, Whitney and Letang...Good game all the way around boys...
The Panthers got one helluva scare from the Dukes of Duquesne, holding on to win 73-68...Since Snack can't afford ESPNU, he didn't get to see the game, however, from what he did see, it looks like the Dukes aren't the bottom feeders they once were...Kudos to the boys from the Hill for making a game out of it, and who knows, maybe an A-10 title is on it's way to Pittsburgh...
Anthony Smith...what a jagoff...hey I have an idea...let's play the best team in the league right after they barely win two games in a row, and then talk shit and say we're gonna beat them...yea, real smart...I wouldn't be surprised if the Hoodie posted that up on the board already...Way to kick a dog when it's sleeping Anthony Smith...you're not Joey Porter, and if we lose, there is NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE to blame but you...JAGOFF!!!
Jesus H, Jake from BuccoBlog is giving me a heart attack...He just mentioned we could get Phil Hughes from the Yanks for Ian Snell, but now it looks like it may not go through...Although, you never know, Jake is always hating on the management, so maybe this is just his normal gloomy view of the Bucs...But, it's much more likely, at least to me, that Jake is prolly just as flustered as I am at this Huntington not having the "intestinal fortitude" to make a big deal...It's time to crap or get off the pot Neil...
Here's a few random links I found while just doing my normal nothing today...
This one is compliments of Old Man Snack, as he found a sweet video of some base jumpers...he also wanted me to mention that him and Mama I (my sweetheart of a mother) used to share beers and laughs with the old 'Stache himself...good shit as far as I'm concerned...Now, if only Wanny would hire the old man as the o-coordinator, then we'd be goin somewhere...
Jimmy Leyland is the big winner in the trade market, landing D-Train and Miggy Cabrera...how the hell did they pull this off? They're pitching staff is now sick as hell, and the're starting 8 is the best in baseball...too bad the poor, poor Pirates are so broke...(Thanks to Mondesi's House for the story)
And finally, it looks like we may have some of our studs back for the showdown with the Pats on Sunday...Troy, Marvel and Santonio are all busting their humps to get back for this one...I hope they don't rush these guys though, we're gonna need them all down the stretch...
Here's your update on your Pittsburgh Ball Club...There is none...We've been linked to every team in MLB and yet we haven't been able to pull the trigger on anything yet..Below, I will post the links I've been using to keep up to date, and if any of you out there know of any others, feel free to email me at pierogisnat@gmail.com...
Ok guys, before I post some stuff on the MLB Winter Meetings, our boy Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force has love for the 'Stache, as seen in this video below...Also, we'd like to thank With Leather for posting this yesterday, and showing us the glory of the 'Stache...
I was happy about a lot of things after the Steelers Sunday night clash with the division rival’s the Bengals. For one, Hienz field held up pretty well considering it was another rainy night here in the Burgh, two, the offense finally looked like it was clicking, especially after the last two outings which were below average, and finally, we put the Bengals out of there misery once again. Also, I can’t forget about the defense, they played a heck of a game making the Bengals offense look mediocre at best.
The first drive started off kind of rough as the Bengals marched the ball down the field, eventually scoring on a Rudi Johnson TD. Hey good job Rudi I wasn’t even sure if you were still playing on the Bengal’s cuz you have been doing a whole bunch of nothing all year long. Little did they know this would be the first and last trip that they would be making to the end zone on that cold wet night. Allowing that first TD must have fired up the team because after that play our D clamped down hard on Carson and company. Rudi was held to only 34 yards on 14 carries a meager 2.4 yards a carry. Also the pressure put on from LeBeau and the front 7 seemed to rattle Palmer as he was forced to attempt 44 passes because of the failure to establish any proficient ground attack. There were no fancy TD celebrations by Ocho Stinko this week, as he and Douchemanzada were both held touchdownless (I make up words I do what I want) on Sunday night. I still believe that at least 50% of the reason Ike Taylor got that contract was because of his ability to shut down #85 on the Bungals. Does he ever score on us? Our research department says Chad hasn’t scored on us since 2003 ironically enough the same year we drafted Ike, maybe I do know what I’m talking about.
(Pic from emptythebench.com)
Please tase him, brah!!!
The Steelers offense snapped out of its funk this week putting up 24 points on the board. Ben overcame a couple early int’s and ended up having a pretty good game, passing for 184 yards and 2 TDs with 2 int’s. It is good to see the big man actually running the ball a little more often these days. Early on in the year, such as in the Broncos game, it seemed like the defense was sitting back in the zone almost daring him to run, but he was hesitant to make it happen. Instead he would try to hold the ball and try to make a play happen with his arm instead of his feet, which resulted in a loss for the team. Nowadays, Ben is still looking to throw but he is a little more confident tucking the ball and taking off running, as he did on a TD run in the 2nd quarter Sunday night.
Even though Santonio has been out with an injury it is good to see that the chemistry between Ben and Hines is the best it’s been since the Super Bowl season. Hines is finding open space in zone coverage and he is also still not afraid to go across the middle; like when he was completely lit up by Madieu Williams and Leon Hall and he sprung to his feet flexing his bicep and smiling as always. Ward got 2 TD’s Sunday passing John Stallworth with 64 TD’s to become the franchise all time leader in TD catches. Not only that but Hines also holds Steelers records for receptions, with 705, and an impressive 143 game streak with at least one catch. I love Hines as much as every other Burgher but I was a little skeptical about how we would hold up after getting his big money contract. Someone needs to give me a slap for that one because it seems like Hines has been working even harder ever since getting paid your can tell he wants another ring.

I don't get these from sitting around petting kitty cats...
Another year goes by and once again the Steelers get the pleasure of crushing the hopes and dreams of all those bums that root for the Bungals, what a beautiful thing. No wonder their fans hate us so bad we end this team’s season on an annual basis. I would probably hate us for that too! I’ll give them this much, at least they didn’t make up a bunch of excuses for losing after the game like the Ravens did. I’m not sure if anyone has heard yet, but next week we play against the Patriots. Personally I am glad the Ravens pooped the bed last night because I want the Steelers to be the team that rains on the Pats parade. Don’t worry, I’m already cooking up a top ten list that involves the team everyone loves to hate. See you’s then…
Well folks, today is truly the Monday morning hangover, as I attended the Steelers Bungals game at Heinz field last night. Waking up sucked this morning so forgive me if my writing is a little uninspiring, I didn’t get too much sleep last night. Enough crying from me though lets get into this weekend's sports action in the Burgh.
This was a big sports weekend for college football; there were conference championships, BCS implications, and of course the 100th anniversary of the Backyard Brawl. There were some pretty good games on during the day, but the highlight of the day was obviously the rivalry game for Pitt with our hated, cousin-loving neighbors, West Virginia. The table was set for WV, all they had to do was beat a lowly Pitt team and they were off to play in the national championship, in the words of Lee Corso, not so fast my friends.
Pitt was ready for this game, they were fired up on defense, and they were geared up to play in a hostile environment in Morgantown. Pitt played like they had a chip on their shoulder, and with good reason. Pitt was 28.5 point underdogs Saturday night, they used this as incentive to get fired up for the game. The doubters were evident and no one was giving Pitt a chance to win this one, but that is why they play the game folks.
Even though they started out slow, Pitt’s game plan proved to work well against the Mountaineers; limit Pat White and make him throw, play stout defense, convert on third downs and give Shady the damn ball. Pat White went down in the second quarter with a thumb injury on his non-throwing hand, but he was still a non-factor when he was actually in the game. Panthers defense silenced the rowdy crowd of nearly 60,000 by holding White to only 40 yards rushing and 50 passing in an impressive effort by their front seven. (not to mention they held Steve Slaton to 11 yards on 9 carries) Although QB Pat Bostick threw a couple INT’s the defense held strong and WV was forced to attempt a couple early field goal’s that they missed (that kicker should be put on suicide watch) In all, the defense did a good job of staying in their lanes and containing WV high powered offense all night long. It was also big that they had some sacks and that they forced a couple of turnovers, which ended up leading to points on the scoreboard.
As for the offense, lets just say they are what we thought they were… Bostick made some bad decisions early and the ‘stache decided to go conservative so Bostick wouldn’t blow the game by committing turnovers. This meant it was time for the Shady show, and man was this kid entertaining carrying the ball a whopping 38 times for 148 yards. (why wasn’t he getting the ball this many times every game) On one play he gave a WV linebacker the uh oh’s on one the nastiest dick moves I’ve seen in some time, but unfortunately the TD run was called back on a phantom holding call on Oderrick Turner. There was an interesting story about Shady circulating through Pittsburgh this weekend. He was confused as to why Pitt hates WV so bad. That is, up until the bus carrying the team rolled into Morgantown and proceeded to be pelted with rocks, bricks, and other objects. Word on the street is that this fired up Shady so much that he gave the team a pep talk right there on the bus, and judging by his play and the play of the rest of the team it must have worked. This kid is only a freshman, but its pretty clear that he doesn’t play or act like one, as he has stepped up to be one of the leader’s of this young team.
Pitt’s offense was by no means a juggernaut on Saturday night, but they were relatively efficient. Six for eighteen on third downs is nothing to write home about, but they were an impressive 2 for 3 on 4th down conversions. The biggest one coming on Pitt’s TD drive where the stache called a fake punt, lining up former Central Catholic QB and Pitt outside linebacker (and Hazelwood native) Shane Murray under center to sneak for 3 yards on 4th and 1. Bostick also converted a third down, later in the drive. Keeping the WV offense off the field was essential to Pitt getting this upset win.
All in all this has got to be one of, if not the, biggest win in the history of Pitt football history. I mean the look on the faces of the WV fans was probably the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my life…. Priceless simply priceless and the camera kept showing them I loved it. I bet WV campus was a ghost town that night as the hands of their most bitter rival crushed their dreams of a national championship on their home field. While WV fans cried themselves to sleep, we partied like rock stars on Pitt’s campus in Oakland. (link the video of the Pitt couch burning) Pitt couldn’t be stopped that Saturday night not by rocks and bricks, not by horrendous penalty calls, and certainly not by a half-assed effort by a team who has never won the national championship.
I am so happy it happened especially cuz I hate that scumbag coach Rich Rodriguez. That d-bag didn’t even give Pitt any credit during his press conference (where he looked like he was about to cry also) all he did was talk about how WV didn’t execute and stick to the game plan. Listen up Rich you got outplayed, out-coached, and beaten by a team you were supposed to roll over. Have fun in the Fiesta bowl you jagoff. GO PITT!
The Steelers beat the hapless Bungals last night 24-10. It was a good game for the defense, as they held those jagoffs from Ohio down all night..They scored a TD on their first possession and wouldn't reach the endzone again the rest of the evening...
Kudos go to Hines Ward, who caught two TD passes, which surpasses John Stallworth for the team record...He's really epitomized what the Steelers have come to be known for: talent, heart, and being just an overall excellent football player...It's good to see him take this record, and not some d-bag like Plexiglass Burress...
Another shout out goes to the defense, who held the high powered offense of the Bengals to 249 total yards...Here's a box score showing yinz all the numbers...
Look for more on the game from Diego in his Monday Morning Hangover which should be posted tomorrow (hopefully)...
And finally, take a look at what happened to Oakland Saturday night...
Yes, you read that correctly; your Pitt Panthers stunned WVU last night, 13-9...All I can say is wow...

Up yours, Hoopies...
On a frozen night in Morgantown, where holding on to the ball was at a premium, Pitt caused 3 fumbles and killed any dreams the hoopies had of going to the national championship...I personally think the Big East told the officials to help WVU out, because there was bad call after bad call against the Panthers, including 2 phantom holding calls and a celebration foul that was horrendous...As Sir Charles would put it, that's just terrrrrible...
More to come on this game in Diego's Monday Morning Hangover...
Player of the game definitely goes to Shady McCoy, who rushed for 148 yards and set the all-time Big East freshman rushing record...This kid is amazing, and I am damn glad he'll be with us for at least the next year...Let's hope he doesn't pull a Larry Fitz and dip after next year...But I'm thinking he'll stay for three, but we'll see...
Well, looks like the Pens are still rolling, even after five days off...Last night, they beat the Stars 4-1 at the Igloo...
They have looked good for three games in a row, and dare I say it, may be on a hot streak...The fourth line has really picked it up, with Big Georges looking like the player we traded for and Tyler Kennedy providing hustle and an offensive spark...of course, I call these guys fourth liners but God only knows where they will end up on any given night, since Coach Therrien changes his lines every other shift...
And, as with any good winning streak, the big time players have been performing very well, with Sid the Kid scoring twice last night and Geno Malkin adding another...These two, along with Marc the Flower (who has looked good now two games in a row), are the cornerstones of this team, and they must perform well if we have any hope of taking home the Cup this season...
And finally, a random note from the sports page today...
Four Steeler players were subpoenaed in the Hines Ward bar case...Ike Taylor, Big Hamp, Deshea, and Nate Washington all got the nod...I don't understand what the hell these four could have to do with anything, so basically I think some jackass lawyer is trying to get his name in the news...Unless, of course, the charges are eating the $350k thats missing...Then Big Hamp may be someone to look at...
